This post, we are sharing an interesting plant that can be found in our woodlands.
A native plant commonly known as “White Baneberry” or “Doll’s Eyes.” It is found growing in hardwood or mixed forests. The berries develop and ripen during the summer months, and remain on the plant untill frost. The plant requires full shade, regular water, rich loamy soil, and good drainage. The plant and its berries are considered toxic to humans. They contain cardiac toxins, which if ingested, can lead to cardiac arrest and death. Birds however are unaffected, and eat and spread the berries. Bees also collect pollen from the plant's flowers.
